Asian Cricket Council Trophy in Singapore, Jul 2002

Final - 21 July 2002:

Semi Finals - 19 July 2002:

The fourth ACC Trophy competition takes place in Singapore for the first time. Three different venues play host to ten Asian nations, from July 10-21.

The UAE and Hong Kong qualified for the next Asia Cup, after reaching the final of the previous ACC Trophy tournament held in Sharjah in 2000. This tournament was to be held in 2001 but has been delayed indefinitely due to the refusal of the Indian government to allow its national cricket team to compete in the same tournament as Pakistan.

Teams in this tournament again have the added incentive to perform well as the top two sides will qualify for the subsequent Asia Cup competition, earmarked for 2005, and earn $100,000 US as their appearance fee.

This tournament sees the international debuts of Oman and Qatar, and the return of Thailand, who missed the 2000 competition.

The teams have been seeded in two round-robin groups of five. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

Group A: Kuwait, Nepal, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates
Group B: Hong Kong, Malaysia, Maldives, Singapore, Thailand
